Teaching and learning methodologies for improving students’ performance in academics. (Journal Review)

Halo people!!
Welcome back to my blog. So in this time I want to review the second journal that I read. The journal I read was about education with title " Teaching and learning methodologies for improving students’ performance in academics ". However, first of all I will show you the title, author and other data about the article that I would like to review.
So, lets get started!!

Title  : Teaching and learning methodologies for improving students’ performance in academics
Author  : Vinothkanna Rajendran, Swetha Reddy, Saritha Reddy
Page  : 432 - 438

  1. Introduction
Students come to recognize learning with a sort of prior knowledge, skills, views, and concepts that majorly have an impact on what they notice about the environment and how they understand and establish it. For meeting this gap, the department is concentrating on extra events to be conducted along with the existing curriculum, which is very well planned in advance to the instigation of the semester.

Even after providing all the above amenities for the students to prove themselves to the best, some couldn’t reach up to expectations, for bringing these students, so called slow learners up to the acknowledgment we implemented a new approach to handling remedial classes and bring them up to the satisfied outcomes.

The student commonly considered as a slow learner if he/she cannot learn at a standard rate from the institutional resources, textbooks, workbooks and learning sheets that are designed for the majority of students in the classroom. These students need special instructional wandering, frequent feedback, corrective instruction or adapted materials-all directed under conditions effectively flexible for learning to occur.

Okay that's all my explanation!! Thankyou for the take time to read my blog see you on the next post !!♥️

Comparing differences and similarities between two journals

Halo people!!
Welcome back to my blog. So in this section, I will share to you guys about the similarities and the differences between my first journal and my second journal!!
in the last post i have review a journal with a title "Textbook Evaluation as a Means of Discovering Learners and Teachers Needs" and then, in a few days later i have find a new journal with the same topic, and I found several similarity points and also different points between both of them.
so,  lets get starteddd!!

Journal 1 : Textbook Evaluation as a Means of Discovering Learners and Teachers Needs
Journal 2 : Teaching and learning methodologies for improving students’ performance in academics

  • The differences between Journal 1 and journal 2
The first journal has Generative Learning Model as method, it included paraphrase, generating tittles, generating questions, drawing mind-maps and images. Both of these journals provide good knowledge to us prospective teachers. By comparing the two, we also understand the difference between the two, and the case of teaching and learning.

  • The similarities between Journal 1 and journal 2
And then, Journal 1 and journal 2 also has the similarities, which both of them discussing about teaching and learning. The similarity may also look from their problem, they aware about the teachers' low scores in teaching and learning methodology.

Okay that's all my explanation!! Thankyou for the take time to read my blog see you on the next post !!♥️

Journal Report (The Result) "Textbook Evaluation as a Means of Discovering Learners and Teachers Needs"

Halo people!!
Welcome back to my blog. So in this section, the author explained about the result of his research paper. The journal I read was about education with title "Textbook Evaluation as a Means of Discovering Learners and Teachers Needs".
So let's start !!!

Some teachers expressed concerns about students’ inability  to  cover  all  the  materials  included  in  one lesson  within  the  45-minute  period,  especially  with mixed-level  groups.  Though  in  the  Writing  Module learners  were  required  to  create  the  draft  of  their written product in class and then self- or peer-assess it according to the set criteria, it was not always possible to do so.

As  such  misunderstanding  of  methodology was    revealed,  the  approach  taken  was explained in  Teachers’  Notes.  In  the  course,  the  attempt  was made  to  combine  product  and  process  approaches to  writing. Based   on   teachers’   evaluation,   flaws   and inconsistencies   in   instructions   were   corrected.

Each module  (skill)  was  evaluated  separately though  the  participants  were  also  encouraged  to describe the overall impression. However,  there  were  learners and  teachers  who  requested  such  tasks  to be  set  as homework.

To satisfy  those  needs,  more  activities  were
developed and introduced. These tasks were aimed at the  development  of  learners’  linguistic  competence, in terms  of  reception  and  production,  and  they also  included  strategy  training  and  microskills development (such as using appropriate word order, or achieving cohesion and coherence in writing).

Learners were also encouraged to give quantitative and qualitative feedback on the materials they tried in the classroom. As  for  difficulty  of materials, some learners found them too challenging and some too easy.

Okay that's all my explanation!! Thankyou for the take time to read my blog see you on the next post !!♥️

Journal Report (3) "Textbook Evaluation as a Means of Discovering Learners and Teachers Needs"

Halo people!!
Welcome back to my blog. So in this time I want to review the journal that I read. The journal I read was about education with title "Textbook Evaluation as a Means of Discovering Learners and Teachers Needs".
So let's start !!!

As it has been mentioned, the essential learners’ needs,  the  microskills  they  need  to  master  to successfully  function  in  the  academic  environment and the texts they have to deal with, were identified at the first stages of the project. However, the materials evaluation  stage,  piloting  in  this  case,  gave  the authors an opportunity to discover more needs and to redesign the materials in accordance.
What  teachers  and  learners  were  asked  to  assess were:
1. Timing
2. Difficulty of materials
3. Relevance
4. Variety
5. Clarity of instruction (classrooms materials)
6. Clarity of guidance (teachers’ notes)
7. Language support
8. Visuals
9. Sequencing
10. Learners’ motivation
Both  teachers  and  learners  were  encouraged  to complete  the  evaluation  survey  and  to  give  verbal qualitative feedback in the written form, the learners gave  their  evaluations  in  Russian  and  the  teachers in  English. survey  and  to  give  verbal qualitative feedback in the written form, the learners gave  their  evaluations  in  Russian  and  the  teachers
in  English.  However,  not  every  teacher  managed to cover all four modules with the number of responses in each section may differ.

Okay that's all my explanation!! Thankyou for the take time to read my blog see you on the next post !!♥️

Journal Report (2) "Textbook Evaluation as a Means of Discovering Learners and Teachers Needs"

Halo people!!
Welcome back to my blog. So in this time I want to review the journal that I read. The journal I read was about education with title "Textbook Evaluation as a Means of Discovering Learners and Teachers Needs".
So let's start !!!

There is no uniform view on what constitutes needs analysis. Needs analysis is viewed as both a process aimed at determining the needs for which a learner or groups of learners  requires a language and arranging the needs according to priorities and techniques for collecting and assessing information relevant to course design.

There  are  multiple  ways  in  which  needs  analysis can  be  carried  out.  Long describes  the following methods nonexpert and expert intuitions, unstructured  and  structured  interviews,  surveys  and questionnaires, language audits, observations, diaries, analysis of corpora and discourse, etc.

Researchers claim that the outcomes of a needs analysis are more objective when the triangulation method is implemented, that is  information  from  various  sources  is  considered. Moreover,  "To  increase  reliability  and  validity,  data should ideally be collected from two or more sources using two or more methods".

It is necessary to acknowledge that needs analysis cannot be the only source of information for course designers to base their decisions on; more factors have to be taken into account. For example, in the  case  of  the  "English  for  Academics" project,  the experience  of  which  is  going  to  be discussed  in  the article.

However, Hyland points out that needs analysis should be on going to dynamic. Normally, teachers are responsible for adjusting materials to the immediate of their learners.

Okay that's all my explanation!! Thankyou for the take time to read my blog see you on the next post !!♥️

Reading Journal Report : "Textbook Evaluation as a Means of Discovering Learners and Teachers Needs"

Halo people!!
Welcome back to my blog. I was given the opportunity to re-write again after all this time I didn't write anything. So in this time I want to review the journal that I read. The journal I read was about education and certainly about education English. So on this occasion I want to share with you why I chose to read this journal.
So let's start !!!

In a journal written by Svetlana Bogolepova Needs analysis is considered an essential step which normally precedes English for
Academic Purposes course design. It allows course developers to identify the tasks
the target audience has to complete, and the skills they need to master. Based on the
experience of the ‘English for Academics’ textbook writing project, the paper shows
that needs analysis can be extended to the materials evaluation stage of textbook
development.

In this article, the process of the development of ‘English for Academics. The author of the article mostly contributed  to  the development  of  the  materials for  the  Writing  Module,  which  deals  with  academic correspondence,   summary,   abstract   and   grant application writing.

When the English  for  Academics’ course  was created,  the  ‘materials  evaluation’  phase  coincided with the ‘students’ use of materials’ phase. In this paper, it is going to be illustrated that the understanding of learners’ needs is not confined to the identification of needs stage, but it penetrates the book writing process. In addition, it will be demonstrated that not only learners, but also teachers needs can be found in the process.

Okay that's all my explanation!! Thankyou for the take time to read my blog see you on the next post !!♥️
